New line provides more operational efficiency, quality and productivity
Since February, Volare, a manufacturer of mini and microbuses that belongs to the Marcopolo S.A. group, has started the production of its vehicles in its new factory line located in Ana Rech, at the Neobus unit. The relocation of the entire Volare operation from the Planalto plant to the Ana Rech plant is the first step in the strategy defined by Marcopolo that aims at optimizing the synergies between the three brands with gains in operational efficiency, quality and productivity.
With the incorporation of Neobus and the major sales drop in the Brazilian bus market between 2014 and the second half of 2017, Marcopolo has began the development of a study project to evaluate the best way to take advantage of the factory capacity in its operations. "We have been working hard on the safety, quality and application of the LEAN philosophy and the Kaizen methodology to make all our plants as efficient and productive as possible," says Francisco Gomes Neto, the CEO of Marcopolo SA.
Volare's new line is broad, it has modern equipment and allows significant gains and better production system flow , as well as the optimization of logistics and warehousing resources, among others. "It also provides employees with sensible advantages in terms of ergonomics and comfort," says João Paulo Ledur, director of the Volare business. "The most important thing is that we have kept all the people who worked in the Planalto unit in both productive and administrative areas," says the executive.
