VOLARE GROWS NEARLY 20% IN THE RETAIL SEGMENT AND INCREASES LEADERSHIP IN THE BRAZILIAN MINIBUS MARKET

Performance strengthens participation of over 50% market share

With the sale of 1,215 vehicles in 2017, which resulted in a 19.94% increase compared to the 1,013 units registered in the previous year, Volare expanded its leadership in the Brazilian microbus industry, reaching a 52.7% market share .

The performance has overcome expectations as well as the 14% growth of the Brazilian market, with 2,304 units sold in 2017, compared to 2,021 in the previous year, says João Paulo Ledur, director of the Volare Business. According to the executive, the increase in demand was a consequence of the greater use of Volare's vehicles in the charter and tourism segments, which have opted for models with ideal dimensions for the transportation of small groups with comfort and ease.

João Paulo Ledur explains that business growth does not include the participation of the manufacturer in the Federal Government Program Caminho da Escola (Pathway to School)  to supply minibuses for school transportation. "We were responsible for 253 units in this segment of a total 681 in the Brazilian market, which represents 37.2% share. I believe that in 2018 there will be a significant growth in this sector, "says Ledur.

The export program contributed to Volare's results, especially Chile, which accounted for more than 65% of sales. There were 370 units sold in the foreign market against 430 vehicles in the same period of 2016. Although it means a 14% drop, the figures are over the brand historical average of 350 units.

"Regarding exports, the sales volume was very good and we reached our third best year in the brand's history, as well as the opening of new markets such as Jordan, South-East Asia, and Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, Africa. We exported less than last year, but we have grown 55% in comparison to 2015, and 108% in relation to 2014, "Ledur concludes.
